THE OTHER DAY MY XTERRA RIGHT TURING LIGHT WAS NOT WORKING IT STAYED GREEN BUT WOULD NOT BLINK AND NOW THE EMERGENCY LIGHT WONT WORK.HEAD LIGHTS WORK JUST NOT ANY OF THE SIGNALS. THEN ABOUT 2 HOURS LATER I WAS DRIVING AND MY CAR DIED , I SOUNDS LIKE IT WANTS TO START BUT IT WONT. I HAD A FRIEND LOOK AT IT AND HE SAID IT WAS THE FUEL PUMP. ANY REASONS WHY MY LIGHTS NEAR THE STEERING WHEEL WONT WORK PROPERLY?

Most likely two different problems instrument cluster failure turn signal lamp staying on. And something either timing belt related or fuel pump your friend says is wrong. Xterria in rusty climates have a fuel pump electrical connector problem that may keep the pump from running and could be a free recall repair at your Nissan dealer.

The turn signals get power through the hazard light switch. Try turning the hazards on and off many times quickly as this may help to clean the contacts inside the switch and allow everything to work ok. As far as the staring problem goes, it may be the fuel pump but its an expensive guess if you replace it and it doesn't fix the problem. Contact (as i responded to your posting yesterday about you question in regards to the recall on the fuel pump) nissan at 800-647-7261 and see if it qualifies for the fuel pump recall.
